Assistant General Manager Agriculture
Definition of Position
Advise and assist the Executive Management team in formulating overall corporate objectives. Recommend policies, strategies and manpower needs for the agricultural department.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Introduce programmes and policies that would lead to the development of a national mutton program.
- Review existing efforts to develop the processing and product development industry in the Bahamas with a view to adding value to the current product for domestic and overseas markets.
- Investigate the sustainability of the ornamental tree farming production practices that could be duplicated throughout the Bahamas.
- Investigate existing tree farm production programs with a view to upgrading them for application throughout the Bahamas.
- Liaise with the department of Agriculture and the Bahamas Agriculture and Marine Science Institute on policy, development and implementation of the development of vegetable crops, tree crops and livestock for the domestic and/or export markets.
- Liaise with department of Cooperatives and assist in coordinating efforts in the establishment of successful producer cooperatives/or associations/groups.
- Coordinate all agricultural development projects in the family islands through the Domestic Investment Office (DIO) System. Seek to use DIO’s as platform to liaise with BAMSI in the respective islands.
- Provide comprehensive and timely MIS.
- Perform any other reasonable duties assigned by Management.
Qualifications
- Master Degree in related Agricultural area or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Minimum ten (10) years experience in Executive Management.
- Excellent oral and written communication.
