In keeping with the celebration of the country’s 48th Anniversary of Independence, The Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation has donated two boxes of fresh fruits and vegetables from the produce exchange to The Bahamas Department of correctional services. To help bring some cheer to the inmates, the department provided each inmate with a special meal outside of the daily issued inmate ration on Independence Day. Every year, as an incentive to encourage good behavior amongst the inmate population, The Department of correctional services hosted a special visitation for inmates for their loved ones who were permitted to visit and bring food and cakes outside of the normal policies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and precautionary measures, the department did not host the annual independence visitation this year. Accepting the donation from BAIC’s Manager of Properties Department, Ms. Deidre Miller was CPL Charmaine Thomas, of The Department of Correctional Services.
