Monday, 11th May 2015 – The Bahamas Agricultural & Industrial Corporations wishes to advise the general public the BAIC continues to create a stable and secure environment for our staff to work efficiently. With this in mind, BAIC wishes to advise that the earlier reported investigations have both been concluded. Both matters have been satisfactorily accepted by the BPSU, which is the bargaining agent for our line staff.

The Corporation wishes to also correct assertions made in various print dailies, which stated that more than 75% of the female employees of BAIC walked off the job. At no time during our investigation was there any protest, demonstration or job walk-off. Any employee complaint of misconduct is dealt with in a swift and timely manner.

BAIC has an aggressive mandate as set out by our act and this current administration. Over the next six to eight months we plan to play a major role in the enhancement and development of the agriculture, handicraft and industrial sectors. While these incidents are rare occurrences, we will continue to enhance the work environment for our employees, to allow greater efficiencies to deal with our expanded mandate and projects under our responsibility.
